Associate Director, IT Operations and Infrastructure  (possibly Director level)

Provides leadership, direction and supervision for strategy, projects and staff. This person is responsible for functional areas that can include but are not limited to Architecture, System Administration, Server Infrastructure, Messaging, SharePoint and Desktop Engineering.  This person will contribute as a technical resource and guides reporting staff in completing their tasks, coordinates work flow and provides skill training based on personal proficiency in the technical processes, techniques, and tools they use. The incumbent and the staff managed are accountable for: the architecture, strategy, availability, and capacity of the IT Infrastructure for the North American facilities.  This person shares direct responsibility for overall IT results with peer IT leadership.

  • Establish and govern an enterprise technical vision consistent with integration, synergy and business strategic objectives.
  • Develop Enterprise Architecture processes, standards, templates and components to ensure alignment between business strategies and application/technology/information roadmaps.
  • Design and specify server platforms, storage and messaging/SharePoint application architectures in support of strategic business initiatives.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to existing computer systems and core infrastructure.
  • Assess and communicate costs and benefits of potential technology models including long-term operating scenarios
  • Ensure the server, storage and end-user environments are effectively maintained and supported.
  • Ensure service providers are carrying out all aspects of contractual obligation for proactive and preventative maintenance of IT facilities or other service delivery, as applicable.
  • Ensure support documentation is accurate and maintained on a timely basis.
  • Assess infrastructure threats and vulnerabilities implementing safeguard recommendations to harden and mitigate risk.
  • Ensure that projects are formalized, remain on schedule, completed within budget and properly documented following test and release procedures.
  • Establishes metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements for driving the performance of IT service delivery.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the team; provide mentoring and career development; oversee development of succession plans at all levels of organizational responsibilities.
  • Provide for continuous training of assigned personnel to strengthen their performance and broaden their background.

Requirements – 10-15+ years experience in pharmaceutical or related leading an IT infrastructure project management and execution organization with involvement in multiple major projects with a sustained record of success delivering complex IT services to a diverse and global clientele. 7+ years experience managing staff.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications desired:

•           ITIL Certification

•           PMP

 Functional Knowledge: 

•           IT Systems Architecture, Engineering and Operations

•           24×7 System operations

•           IT Processes including Service Desk Integration and Incident/Problem management and Escalation

•           IT Project Management

PLUS Skills:  Experience with Unix (AIX), Linux and Windows operating systems, High availability architecture, Windows Desktop operating system migration, SharePoint administration and management, Messaging systems (MS Exchange) and Mobile Device (MDM) management, experience managing operations of ERP system (SAP, eBusiness) management, Cloud computing
